Synopsis
Brussels teacher Amal encourages students' passion for reading and expressing themselves despite the risks. Her bold approach leaves a mark on students and families. I saw the film at the 2024 Transilvania International Film Festival – TIFF Romania in Cluj, and I was so impressed by the film that I can only recommend it to everyone. It is not an easy one, but a difficult one that will give you thoughts for home. What did we do wrong? So, here she is, a truly idealistic literature teacher in a suburban neighborhood of a Brussels school. She seems to be getting into trouble and becomes the target of a group of fiercely hostile students and some teachers who are involved in Islamic extremism. During the hostilities, the enthusiastic teacher decides to help a Muslim teenager who has been accused of homosexuality by her colleagues. Unfortunately, in an unjust war, things take an increasingly strange and dangerous direction.
