Phyllis Smith came out of retirement to reprise her role as Sadness for Inside Out 2
Synopsis
A sequel where Riley enters puberty and experiences entirely new, more complex emotions as a result. As Riley tries to adjust to her teenage years, her old emotions try to get used to the possibility of being replaced. She asked Pixar to get her a recording studio in Missouri as she had no intention of traveling all the way to Los Angeles just for that. As Riley gets older, her emotions become more complex and therefore new characters (emotions) are added. However, doesn’t that mean that her parents (and possibly other adults) who are even more mature and evolved would not only have these emotions in their control rooms, but even more emotions?
Are these emotions repressed?
There is a hint of fear during the mid-credits scene with both parents, but nothing else. Or hidden like Riley’s
Nostalgia? This was also the case in the previous film, when the adults’… control rooms seemed just as developed as the children’s and had the same number of emotions. To be clear, the said end-credits scene strongly suggests that Fear and the other new emotions tend to end up being held in place by the five main emotions, and that they only pop up occasionally to voice their concerns, which explains their complete absence from the first film.
Maybe we can’t
Joy: I don’t know how to stop the fear. Maybe that’s what happens when you grow up. You feel less joy. “This film is dedicated to our children. “We love you just the way you are.” Featured in AniMats Crazy Cartoon Cast: The D23 Expo 2022 Special (2022).

When I first heard that Pixar was making a sequel film, I was very excited, as I just loved the last film. I saw the trailer and thought it looked good for a recent film. I went into watching the film with great expectations and came out sobbing because it was so personal to me. As for me, I had terrible anxiety for years until I finally recovered from it and watching the film from that perspective made it very enjoyable for me. Some of the lines Anxiety said brought tears to my eyes just because I had said them to myself in the past.
Personal feelings aside, this film was truly amazing
The film accurately portrayed the life of a teenager, from the difficulty of fitting in, the feelings that come with friends leaving, thinking less about yourself, etc. One scene in particular was hard for me to deal with and it made me sob just because it gave me time to think about how I used to be. The animation was incredible and the plot surprisingly good. I loved the new emotions and they are just as good as the first ones (almost better)
